Konnichiwa Osaka!

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM, 26 June 2016: Jetstar Pacific today announced the commercial launch and the commencement of ticket sales on two new routes: Danang-Osaka and Hanoi-Osaka. This sees the carrier become the first low cost airline to connect Vietnam to the vibrant Japanese cultural capital of Osaka.

Tickets go on sale today, with a launch promotion from as low as VND1,280,000 and with an assortment of package options available from licensed agents and on the Jetstar website. Flights will commence on 1 September from Da Nang and 2 September from Hanoi, with four weekly round-trip services from both cities.

Japan has close commercial ties with Vietnam and is consistently ranked among Vietnam’s top investors and trade nations, having a large manufacturing footprint for top Japanese brand names in Hanoi that includes Panasonic, Yamaha, Canon and Honda, amongst others.

Vietnam welcomed over 740,000 Japanese travellers to the country in 2016 a number that is set to increase with Jetstar Pacific’s low-cost option.

The reduced fares and increased connectivity offered by the new services are expected to spur trade and people flow even further, with increased visitors from Japan’s second largest metropolis.

“It is a thrill to be announcing connections between these two nations today,” CEO of Jetstar Pacific, Mr Nguyen Quoc Phuong, said.

“Vietnam and Japan are countries with deep stories of friendship and cooperation – economically, socially and culturally. Being able to offer leisure and business travellers from both nations the chance to explore each other’s homelands at prices never seen previously is the essence of Jetstar. We were founded on the belief that travel should be accessible to everyone, and here we are, once again, delivering on that promise, Mr Phuong added.

Da Nang especially offers a new holiday destination for Japanese travellers in search of the perfect beach and golf vacation, complete with gorgeous coastlines, four world-class golf courses and the historic town of Hoi An with its very own Japanese-inspired architecture.

Hanoi is naturally endowed with rivers, lakes and mountains, with attractions peppered over the capital of Vietnam. They include museums, pagodas and the famous Hanoi Old Quarter, with the Hoan Kiem Lake in the middle of the hustle and bustle.

From Hanoi, customers can also connect to other scenic destinations across the Jetstar Pacific network including Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Tuy Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City.

Osaka, on the other hand, is dubbed the ‘food capital of the world’ by travel authors and food critics globally. Now, Vietnamese travellers possess the perfect opportunity to visit this culinary city to sample some of the finest delicacies that the nation can offer.

Besides cuisine, Osaka is famed for attractions that include the Osaka Castle, Universal Studios Japan and the famed Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium. The area’s renowned shopping nightlife and entertainment district of Dotonbori also offers visitors a chance to taste traditional and contemporary takes on the Japanese cuisine.

To celebrate the new flights, Jetstar Pacific will introduce a special sale for its first flights from Osaka to Hanoi and Osaka to Da Nang. Fares are available for purchase from today. Travellers will be able to book tickets at website www.jetstar.com and other agents nationwide.

The new services will be operated by Jetstar Pacific’s 180-seat Airbus A320.
